Dark comedy, disturbing, hilarious, grotesque

CONSUMED is a new original dark comedy that takes a razor-sharp look at our obsession with influencers, consumerism, and the hidden cost of turning people into commodities.

Inspired by the astonishing true story of a man who ate an entire aeroplane, CONSUMED is a story about a 14-year-old girl, Jane who has a rare medical condition, Pica, who becomes a popular influencer by eating inedible objects.

The show details her journey from an innocent outsider to a burnt-out internet sensation, driven by her parents and a manipulative manager. The story escalates with a "plane-eating" stunt, leading to a copycat incident with tragic consequences. Jane faces backlash and criminal charges, culminating in a final "act of redemption" that is revealed to be a satirical statement on the “feeding frenzy” surrounding online celebrities. CONSUMED is an exploration of the nature of social media and human connection.

Our boxes are available to pre-order online and limited boxes will be available to purchase pre-show, until sold out. To avoid disappointment, please pre-order.

A selection of 3 cheeses, cured meats, house made tomato jam, lavosh crackers, house pickled vegetables & fruit.

Pre-order cut-off
Boxes only available to pre-order up to 10am the day prior to event. If event is on a weekend pre-orders close at 10am the Friday prior.

Buy at the event
Limited boxes will be available to purchase at the event from the retail café until sold out.

Collection at the event
Boxes will be available for collection 60 minutes prior to event from the ground floor retail café, near the coffee station (closest to Theatre doors 3 & 4). Food can be taken into the Theatre.

Wheelchair access

Wheelchair seats/spaces are available for all events. These seats/spaces can be ordered online or via the Box Office. All MECC carparks are fully accessible.

Hearing receivers
Hearing receivers are available in the Auditorium and a Hearing Loop is available in the Plenary Halls. To access this equipment, enquire at the Box Office during the event.

Companion cards
Companion card holders are entitled to a complimentary companion ticket to all performances/events, tickets can be ordered online or via the Box Office. The cardholder must provide their Companion Card details when making a booking.
