Our twelve versatile multi-purpose meeting and event spaces span across 2400m², over two floors.

Featuring an auditorium, plenary halls, meeting rooms, studio space, foyers, breakout rooms and more – you are sure to find the perfect spot for your function at the MECC.

Convention Precinct

The Convention Precinct encompasses a range of multi-use facilities and spaces including the Mackay Entertainment and Convention Centre, Artspace Mackay (Mackay's award-winning Regional Art Gallery), the Town Hall (City Centre Art Deco heritage building) and the Civic Lawn.

All venues and spaces are available for hire on a per space basis or as a collective multi-purpose arrangement (subject to availability).

Foyer facilities

Our venue offers foyer facilities:

Beside the Auditorium (North Foyer)
Wrapping around two (2) sides of the Plenary Halls (Central and South Foyers)

The foyers offer ample space for conference registration, delegate refreshments and trade shows and exhibitions.

Our spaces

Plenary Halls (1 and/or 2)

We have two plenary halls available – extending to a maximum capacity of 1500 people.

Meeting Rooms (1-4)

Designed to be as multipurpose as possible, our meeting rooms can be highly customised for any dinner, concert or meeting style event.

Auditorium (Theatre)

Our 1000+ seat auditorium has been expertly acoustically designed to allow for the best possible sound, while all seats are laid out to provide wide-range views for every audience member.

North Foyer

The North Foyer offers a spectacular space for any performance, as well as cocktail-style events and conferences.

Mezzanines and Terraces

North Mezzanine and Central Mezzanine, each with outdoor terraces.

Lynette Denny Space (Experimental Theatre)

The Lynette Denny Space (or ‘The Space’) is as an experimental or ‘black box theatre’ performance space, featuring black walls and a flat floor.

Off-site: BB Print Stadium

From international outdoor rock concerts to national sporting events – the BB Print Stadium Mackay is a proven open-air events powerhouse.

Catering

Our professional team prides themselves in delivering a high-quality selection of menus inspired by local and regional produce.

Fresh quality produce combined with exquisite presentation and outstanding service provides a winning recipe for your event. Seasonal menus are created to showcase fresh local and regional produce and are available as standard, deluxe or premium package selections. Catering to special dietary requirements on application, our caterers can prepare food for persons with special requirements and are careful to label food at buffets, managing risks of possible allergic reactions.

Bar services

MECC offers both permanent and mobile bar facilities designed to complement your function or event requirements.

Our main bar is conveniently located in the North Foyer, adjacent to the Auditorium, and features a broad selection of beverages to suit all preferences, including coffee and non-alcoholic options. The main bar operates one hour prior to performances and during interval breaks.

A smaller bar is also available in the Convention Centre foyer.

For added flexibility, mobile bar services can be installed throughout our venue spaces to suit your event layout or to accommodate larger crowds. Bar tabs can also be arranged in advance upon request, ensuring a seamless experience for your guests.

Technical equipment and internet

The centre is equipped with the latest audio-visual equipment, world-standard acoustic systems, wireless networks and high-speed internet. Our dedicated team of technical experts can assist you with all your requirements.

Ticketing services

The MECC has a ticketing service which can support you with all of your ticketing requirements for on-site or off-site events.

The centre offers a convenient cost effective and efficient ticketing service to many touring companies, community theatres and groups. For a small booking fee, the centre can take the hassle out of selling tickets to your event or function. The centre currently owns a database of over 23,000 patrons that can be utilised for marketing purposes.

The MECC accepts Visa and Mastercard credit cards online. The MECC accepts cash, and Visa and Mastercard credit cards over the box office counter.

Front of house facilities

For every function and event at the MECC, dedicated, qualified and experienced Front of House staff will be available for any request you may have. Their duty is to ensure that your time with us is pleasant and relaxed. If you have any queries while you are at the centre simply direct them to the Front of House staff who are only too happy to help.
