At the age of seven in her home town of Mackay, Karen Jacobsen saw Olivia Newton-John on television and knew what she wanted to do with her life. She wanted to become a professional singer and move to America.

Karen returns to Mackay to premiere a musical memoir of that journey. Solo at the grand piano, and part concert, part motivational experience, “Mackay to Manhattan” follows the story of a small town girl with big dreams who believes “It’s Never Too Late To Recalculate” to get to your destination in life.

Along the way Karen’s speaking voice ended up in over a billion GPS devices and as the original Australian voice of Siri in iPhones. Be ready to be entertained, inspired and hear the “only voice men will take directions from” in this very special event.

Enjoy full table service with a choice of 3 delicious brunch meals to choose from plus tea and coffee included in your ticket - thanks to our talented chefs at the Mackay Entertainment and Convention Centre.

Patricia Piccinini: Curious Affection on Tour
FIELD Engineers Gallery, Artspace Mackay
Patricia Piccinini invites audiences to think about their place in a world where advances in biotechnology and digital technologies blur the lines between human, nature and the artificial world. The artist’s fascination with these boundaries and relationships led The New York Times to describe her creations as ‘sculptures of life forms that don’t exist’ – her lifelike hybrid creatures seamlessly blend human, animal and machine elements to reveal life forms that are extraordinarily familiar.

Free Exhibition Floor Talk: 10:30am Saturday 26 September

Opening Weekend Extended Hours: 10am – 6:30pm Saturday 26 September and 10am – 3pm Sunday 27 September
