The huge 66,484 square kilometre Mackay Region offers diverse destination experiences, complemented by an enviable climate. Average daily temperatures range from just over 22c in the winter months of June-August, and over 30C during the summer months December-February.

Affordable and frequent services from airlines such as Jetstar, QantasLink and Virgin Australia provide over 100 flights per week in and out of Mackay to Brisbane, Rockhampton, Townsville, Cairns, Sydney and Melbourne.

Straddling the Bruce Highway, Mackay has excellent road connections to all key Queensland regional centres. Queensland Railways’ ‘Spirit of Queensland’ train also offers an alternative mode of transport for delegates from nearby regional areas, on its regular coastline trip from Cairns to Brisbane.
