The Mackay Festivals team is based at the Mackay Entertainment and Convention Centre (the MECC) and work alongside the directive team to bring the most joyous and vast program of events to the Mackay region.

Our history

Originally, the Festival was run by an incorporated Not-for-Profit (NFP) group providing an opportunity for the local community to celebrate music, art and local food. This continued until the Mackay Regional Council was asked to support and eventually host the Festival in the late 90’s. The Festival is now delivered by the MECC & Events Festival team of three staff, in collaboration with the Mackay Entertainment and Convention Centre (MECC), Mackay Regional Council (MRC), and various local organisations.

While the heart of the Festival remains true to celebrating the local community, its growth has also seen it extend itself as a destination event on the Tourism & Events Queensland’s calendar of events and an iconic program for the Mackay region.

	Sarah Porter Festival and Events Coordinator With a strong passion and go to attitude, Sarah is bringing fresh eyes and a wealth of experience to Mackay Festivals. Sarah has a strong sense of community and is always looking at ways to engage audiences and grow the festival program to reach its full potential.
	Phoebe Short Festival and Events Officer Phoebe brings a calm to the team with a strong passion for the arts and entertainment industry. The go to person for socials, vendors and performers, Phoebe is excited to showcase and support the local Mackay Region and everything it has to offer.
