The 2020 Pathways to Performance program is an initiative of The Friends of the MECC and the Mackay Entertainment & Convention Centre (MECC), with support from BHP and Glencore Hail Creek Open Cut Mine, which recognises a barrier to schools attending theatre and associated educational programs is the distance that needs to be travelled and the cost of funding the travel whether by bus and or train.
Each year the MECC advises educators of performances coming to the centre which have significant educational merit or which enhance aspects of the school curriculum through workshops.
Schools may reserve their requirements for performances and workshops in advance and then apply for transport, ticket and or workshop costs to be covered through the Pathways to Performance program.
Thank you to Rio Tinto Hail Creek Mine for supporting this program in 2017 and 2018, Glencore Hail Creek Open Cut Mine for supporting this program in 2019 and BHP Billiton for supporting this program from 2012-2019.
