Glamorous Hollywood meets Rustic Ireland in a clash of cultures
This tragicomedy is set in a small town in County Kerry, Ireland, which is being overrun by a Hollywood film crew filming the “Quiet Valley”.
It centres on Charlie Conlon and Jake Quinn, who, like much of the town, are thrilled to be employed as extras for the movie. The efforts of the production crew to create a proper, romanticized “Irish feel” often conflict with real life in a rural Irish town and the result is hilarious. Two actors perform a myriad of roles in this fun, fast, and poignant story . The play calls upon a cast of two to impress as they perform all 15 characters (men and women), often switching gender and voice with swift dexterity and absolute bare minimum of costume changes.
Alternately riotously funny and deeply moving, the play is universally loved by all who see it.
